• OVERVIEW

    Aquamica functonal coatings are solution-cast formulations which create a uniform, hardened surface on top of a variety of substrates. Based upon our perhydropolysilizane (PHPS) materials technology, Aquamica coatings add durability and surface-protection properties by forming a pure silicon dioxide film with excellent adhesion to the coated substrate.

    Aquamica functional coatings find application in a number of surface-protection services:

    • Easy-to-clean - based on both the hydrophilicity and the glass-rigidness of the coating, Aquamica coatings work to ease the cleaning and to prevent the dirt, stain, and discoloration for uses such as automotives body-coating, bath and kitchen appliances, and plastic products
    • Gas/vapor barriers - forming a sub-micron thickness SiO2 film, Aquamica is used as an over-coat on polymer film products to prevent corrosion and discoloration associated with oxidation
    • Spin-on Glass - Aquamica coatings can provide improved oxide film properties versus conventional sol-gel materials

  • PRODUCT LIST

    Aquamica functional coatings are available in a variety of formulations tailored to your specific application,and are typically fomulated for coated film thickness up to 2 um; specialty products incorporating additives are also available for thicker applications.

    Formulations are designated by the curing temperature required (typically from room temperature up to 150 °C; some formulations require curing at up to 450 °C), and the solvent system including xylene, dibutyl-ether (DBE) and proprietary mixtures

    Advise on safety handling:

    Refer to the current Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) and product label for detailed information prior to handling.

    When practicable the material should be handled in enclosed processes, a properly operating laboratory hood or with other effective local exhaust ventilation.

    Keep only in the original container; keep container tightly closed in a cool, well-ventilated place
